LCCD thanks all those who joined us for our
Annual 2019 Lehigh County High School Envirothon!
High School Competition: Tuesday, April 23rd
Middle School Competition: Thursday, April 25th
From 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, each day
At the Wildlands Conservancy in Emmaus, PA
All Lehigh County high schools and middle schools are encouraged to compete:
Envirothon is a fun, academic event that challenges teams of high school and middle school students to learn practical concepts and application of environmental topics. Students may work, in teams of five, with a team advisor to learn material in each of five ecology subjects: Aquatics, Forestry, Wildlife, Soil & Land Use, and Current Issues (this year, the current issue theme is Agriculture and the Environment: Knowledge and Technology to Feed the World). This extra-curricular activity exposes students to a range of disciplines and potential career paths. Students develop study skills, practice effective teamwork, and learn natural resource management and ecology. The overall winning team of the county competition moves on to the state level (University of Pittsburg Johnstown on May 21st and 22nd, 2019) to compete for scholarships.
